Pastor David Moore
Pastor David is from Lexington, KY and grew up in the Disciples of Christ Church but walked away from the church as a teenager. At twenty-five, he received Christ as Savior and Lord in Orlando, FL during spring training while playing professional baseball for the Minnesota Twins. He was assigned to the Twins AAA affiliate, playing for the Toledo Mudhens, alongside six other Christian teammates that helped him remain focused on his new found faith. His thirst for biblical truth and spiritual growth led him to much reading and studying from the onset. With the demands of travel and the instability of professional sports, consistent church attendance was impossible during the spring and summer months.
After exiting professional baseball, David spent three years in college coaching. Subsequently, the next twenty years he was involved in business, primarily medical sales and church attendance and participation became paramount. During this time, he married and was blessed with three daughters. Though successful in sales, he couldn’t escape the inward “gnawing” that drew him toward ministry. Upon seeking counsel from seasoned ministers, he began coursework toward pastoral ministry and eventually received a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Ministry, a degree in Pastoral Ministry, and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Theology. He has also taken classes at United Theological Seminary and continues to seek out top-notch learning opportunities.
He has a wide variety of ministry experience ranging from setting up chairs, directing traffic at church, ushering, custodial responsibilities, youth ministry, ministering with Athletes in Action in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, as the assistant director of Bethel Mission in downtown Des Moines, IA, and prison ministry in San Bernardino, CA. He has led men’s prayer groups and was involved in organizing a home church. He has resided for periods of time in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec Canada, Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico and Maracay, Aragua Venezuela.
David was single again for twelve years when he met his wife Linda while attending a prayer seminar that she and Tommy Hays of Messiah Ministries conducted at Asbury Seminary. Together, they have a combined family of five – two sons and three daughters – and seven grandchildren. David has pastored Methodist churches for over twelve years beginning with Uniopolis/St. John’s United Methodist charge from 2012-2013, Lockington United Methodist Church from 2013-2015, and Walnut Grove/Lakeview Christ United Methodist Charge from 2015-2023. After disaffiliation, the addition of Big Springs Global Methodist was added to Walnut Grove Global Methodist in 2024. He has co-pastored with Linda in the past and he is excited about being together with his wife at Jackson Center Global Methodist.
